Ryan Gouveia e Melo, MD
Ryan Gouveia e Melo is a Vascular Surgeon currently based at the Central University Hospital of Northern Lisbon (CHULN) in Portugal. Holding the position of Invited Assistant at the University of Lisbon, he is actively involved in teaching Vascular Surgery. In addition, Ryan is a dedicated PhD student and a valued member of the research team at the Cardiovascular Center of the University of Lisbon (CCUL). Notably, he serves as the European Vascular Surgeons in Training (EVST) Councilor for Portugal.
Having successfully completed his residency in Angiology and Vascular Surgery in March 2023, Ryan achieved the prestigious status of Fellow of the European Board of Vascular Surgery in September of the same year, earning Honours and the Gold Medal. His commitment to advancing his expertise is evident through his completion of the Complex Aortic Clinical and Research Fellowship program at Ludwig Maximilian University Hospital in 2021, under the guidance of Professor Nikolaos Tsilimparis. Furthermore, in 2022, he successfully concluded the Portugal Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School.
Ryan's professional pursuits are concentrated on aortic pathologies, with a specific focus on aortic disease epidemiology and complex endovascular aortic repair. Beyond his clinical endeavors, he exhibits a keen interest in medical education. He actively contributes to the Aortic Association's mission, aiming to foster the dissemination of knowledge and peer learning activities, particularly centered around aortic pathologies.”
